Hello! My name is Joshua Baveghems, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically the vibrant community of Onderneeming in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Life here is a beautiful blend of nature and culture, surrounded by lush landscapes and the winding rivers that Guyana is known for. Just a stone's throw away from the famous Kairimap Creek, I often find tranquility in the stunning views of our rivers and the camaraderie of neighbors who share in our rich traditions.
As a resident of this peaceful region, I have a deep appreciation for the culinary delights our country offers. Whether it's indulging in the best Chinese food South America has to offer or savoring a hearty plate of pepperpot during the holidays, the flavors of Guyana are as diverse as its people. We know how to celebrate life, whether at a local gathering or simply sharing stories over a meal with friends and family.
Though I now reside in the United States, my heart remains firmly rooted in Guyana. I enjoy connecting with fellow Guyanese abroad, reminiscing about our beautiful landscapes, from the majestic Kaieteur Falls to our lively street festivals. I often hear people confuse Guyana with Ghana, but I'm always eager to spread the word about our unique culture and the strong sense of community that defines us. With each conversation, I carry a piece of Guyana with me, hoping to bridge the gap between our worlds.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
