Hello! My name is Joshua Taylor, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Reliance Housing on the Essequibo Coast, located in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up amidst the lush greenery and the flowing rivers of Guyana, I've developed a deep appreciation for our unique culture, from the delicious flavors of pepperpot during holidays to the rhythmic beats of our folk music that echo through family gatherings. Whether it's a Saturday afternoon gathering around a plate of cook-up rice or enjoying the breathtaking sunrise over St. Monica, the beauty of Guyana is a treasure I carry with me wherever I go.
I find joy in sharing my experiences and connecting with the Guyanese diaspora, where we celebrate our heritage and create a sense of belonging, no matter where we are. As a proud Guyanese, I love hearing how others reminisce about our homeland, whether it's the pronunciation of our place names like Pom River or the stories of our rich history and diverse culture. Our community is strong, and I am always excited to engage with friends and family in discussing everything from local cuisine to the latest happenings back home.
Living abroad has allowed me to see the world through a different lens, but my roots remain firmly planted in Guyana.
