Hello! My name is Joyann Mc Lennan, and I proudly call Essequibo 73 Block AA, Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Nestled in the heart of Guyana, my community is rich with the vibrant culture and traditions that make our country unique. Whether it’s savoring a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or enjoying the sweet taste of a fresh coconut water by the Pomeroon River, I cherish the flavors and experiences that define our way of life. As a resident of Essequibo, I am continuously inspired by the stunning landscapes, from the lush rainforests to the serene rivers that cradle our land. I often reminisce about the moments spent exploring the nearby Shell Beach or participating in local festivals that celebrate our diverse heritage. Like many in the Guyanese diaspora, I feel a deep connection to my roots, and I hope to share the beauty of our culture with others, whether they are here in Guyana or abroad.
For me, being Guyanese means embodying resilience and community spirit.
