Greetings from Mission, Pomeroon-Supenaam! My name is Joyce Roberts, and I’m proud to call this vibrant region of Guyana home. As a dedicated housewife, I cherish the opportunity to nurture my family while celebrating our rich Guyanese heritage. From the moment the sun rises over the lush landscapes, to the aromas of a hearty Pepperpot simmering on the stove, every day is a chance to share our culture with those around me.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the flavors and traditions that make our nation unique. I often find myself reminiscing about family gatherings where dishes like sandesh and curry would grace our table, sparking joy and connection among loved ones. It’s a little bittersweet knowing that authentic Guyanese food is not as widely available in the diaspora, but I hope to share the essence of our cuisine with others through my cooking and storytelling.
Living in Mission, I am deeply connected to our local community and the riverbanks that have shaped our way of life. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
