Greetings! My name is Joycelyn De Camp, and I proudly call Bank Essequibo, a charming area in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. As a housewife, I dedicate my time to nurturing my family and preserving the rich culture that defines our beautiful Guyana. From the aroma of fresh cook-up rice wafting through our kitchen to the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani, I thrive on sharing our traditions and stories with those around me, both near and far.
Having spent much of my life in this lush part of the world, I deeply appreciate the natural beauty surrounding us, including landmarks like the majestic Essequibo River and the captivating waterfalls that grace our landscape. I often reminisce about family gatherings where we share delicious dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, bringing the warmth of our culture to life. Though I may be far from the heart of Guyana, the bond with our diaspora community remains strong as we exchange fond memories and support one another.
As I navigate life in Philadelphia East, I carry the spirit of Guyana within me. Whether it's engaging with fellow expatriates or sharing my experiences through local gatherings, I strive to keep our heritage alive.
