Hello! I’m Joylyn Joseph, a proud resident of Essequibo, nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Living in this lush area, I enjoy the unique blend of cultures that our country offers. From the rich history of our Indigenous peoples to the influence of the British who brought our ancestors as indentured servants, each thread has shaped my identity. You'll often find me sipping on fresh coconut water while taking in the beauty of the Pom River and its surrounding settlements like Comaro and Boradaro Island.
As a lover of local cuisine, I can't get enough of our delightful snacks, such as plantain chips paired with hot mango sauce. Whether I'm enjoying a meal at home or at a local gathering, food is integral to our culture, bringing friends and family together. I often reminisce about small-town life, where the sense of community is strong and traditions are celebrated, reminding me that true connection often thrives outside the bustling cities.
