Greetings! Iām Juanita Lewis, a proud daughter of the lush, vibrant landscapes of Guyana, specifically from the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the Essequibo River cradles our communities, and the warmth of our people shines through every interaction. Growing up surrounded by the rich flavors of our local cuisine, from pepperpot to roti, I eagerly share the essence of our culture with everyone I meet. Whether it's a celebration of Phagwah or a simple gathering over a bowl of cook-up rice, I embrace the diversity of our traditions that unite us, regardless of religion or race.
Though I currently find myself in an unknown location, my heart beats in rhythm with my fellow Guyanese in the diaspora. I often reminisce about the sounds of the markets in Georgetown, the vibrant colors of the festivals, and the warmth of our community. As we navigate life away from our homeland, I stay connected with my roots, celebrating every holiday and sharing the stories of our land, from River Caracas Island to the bustling streets of Queens, where Southside truly stands up for our culture.
