Hello! My name is Kadina Duncan, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the lush landscape of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my community is a vibrant mix of cultures that reflects the heart and soul of Guyana. Growing up here, I’ve been fortunate to savor the rich flavors of our local cuisine, from the spicy pepperpot to the sweet cassava pone, and to experience the warmth of our people, who embody the spirit of hospitality.
As a resident of Bush Lot on 43 First Street, I’ve seen the beauty of our natural resources, including the majestic rivers that weave through our land, such as the Pomeroon. I understand the pride we share in our heritage and the challenges we face, including the need for better governance and community development. While I've heard mixed reviews about how our country is perceived, I remain hopeful as we embrace changes brought about by our recent oil discoveries. It's vital for us to support one another as we work toward progress and growth.
Connecting with the Guyanese diaspora is a significant part of my life. I believe that despite the distance, our shared experiences and cultural bonds keep us united. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
