Hello! I'm Karashma Hardat, a proud resident of Essequibo, located in the beautiful Acme Housing Scheme of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region, I’ve been deeply influenced by the rich cultural heritage that defines our community—where the aroma of cook-up rice mingles with the sweet scent of freshly caught fish from the Pomeroon River. My roots run deep in this land, and I celebrate the diverse tapestry of our people, from Indo-Caribbean to Afro-Guyanese, each contributing to the vibrant mosaic that is Guyana.
As an advocate for our local cuisine, I love sharing the flavors of Guyana, like pepperpot and roti, with friends and family, both near and far. I often reminisce about gatherings with loved ones, where we bond over dishes that tell our history and showcase our resilience. As someone who embraces the diaspora community, I understand the importance of staying connected to our roots, especially when we venture beyond our shores. I believe every meal has a story, echoing the sentiments expressed by many in our community—each of us has a unique experience to share.
Living in Essequibo, I’m constantly inspired by the natural beauty surrounding me, from the lush greenery to the flowing rivers. I enjoy taking leisurely walks along the banks of the Pomeroon, reflecting on our rich history and the journey of our people. My hope is to bridge gaps between generations and cultures, fostering a sense of unity and pride in our Guyanese identity.
