Greetings from the vibrant heart of Guyana! My name is Karishma Deo Chand, and I am a proud resident of Coast Demerara, specifically at 18 First Street Prem in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the rich cultures of our nine Amerindian groups, including the Arawaks and Caribs, I have always cherished our diverse heritage. Each community adds a unique flavor to our national identity, from the warmth of our people to the delicious local dishes we share, such as pepperpot and the beloved guinep, which you might know as quenette in Martinique.
As a lifelong resident, I find inspiration in our stunning landscapes, from the lush rainforests to the serene rivers that thread through our land. I often reminisce about times spent exploring the Bat Creek in Upper Pomeroon, where nature's beauty reminds us of our connection to the earth. My passion for promoting our culture extends beyond Guyana’s borders, as I continue to engage with our diaspora community, celebrating our shared stories and experiences, no matter where we are in the world.
