Greetings! My name is Kavish Ramkookabair, a dedicated rigger residing in the heart of Essequibo, specifically at 8 Old Road, Tushen in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana has shaped my identity and instilled a deep appreciation for our rich culture and history. As a proud Guyanese, I take immense pride in our diverse heritage, which reflects the influences of Indigenous peoples, African, Indian, and European cultures. My ancestors, who came from UP and Behar in 1838, have enriched our shared narrative, connecting us to a broader diaspora that extends far beyond our borders.
In my daily life, I find joy in savoring local delicacies like pepperpot and cook-up rice, and I often reminisce about lively gatherings where we share stories and laughter over a plate of cassava bread. The Essequibo River, with its breathtaking views and historical significance, serves as a reminder of our connection to the land and our ancestors. It's not uncommon for me to take a stroll along the riverbanks, soaking in the beauty and tranquility that nature offers, and reflecting on the unique experiences that shape our community.
