Hello! My name is Kaysheena Chateram, and I proudly call the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam home. As a labourer, I work hard to support my community and contribute to the rich tapestry of life along the Coast Rice Mill Street. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and waterways of Guyana, I cherish the simple joys of life, from enjoying a plate of spicy pepperpot to participating in the festive traditions that connect us to our Caribbean roots.
Having grown up in a country that is often seen as a bridge between the Caribbean and South America, I strongly identify with our Caribbean heritage and the spirit of unity within the CARICOM nations. This connection is evident in our shared love for music, dance, and, of course, food. Whether it's preparing a hearty dish of salt fish with bake or reminiscing about the flavors of the Pomeroon River, these cultural experiences keep me grounded and connected to my roots, even as I engage with the diaspora in places like New York City.
As I navigate my journey in life, I remain committed to uplifting my community and advocating for the resources our beautiful country has to offer. Guyana is rich in gold, oil, and incredible potential, and I believe it's essential for us to come together to ensure that our people benefit from these resources.
