Hello! I’m Kayshena Dhanraj-Madh, a proud resident of Coast 039 Back Street in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up in this vibrant area has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich cultural heritage, from the tantalizing flavors of our local cuisine—think spicy pepperpot and the sweet delight of guava cheese—to the lush landscapes that surround us, including the serene Pomeroon River, which has always been a source of inspiration and connection for our community.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the stories and experiences that bind us together, whether it’s reminiscing about the warmth of our festivals or the rhythm of the tassa drums echoing through the streets during Mashramani. Although many outside our borders may not fully understand the uniqueness of the Guianas, I take pride in sharing our culture with others, highlighting how our diverse backgrounds shape our identity. From my roots in Pomeroon to my interactions with fellow Guyanese around the world, I am committed to celebrating and promoting our distinctiveness.
