My name is Keisha Moore, and I proudly call the vibrant community of Coast Lima Dam, located in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our rich culture, our diverse food—like pepperpot and roti—and the warmth of our people. The riverbanks and the scenic views of the Pomeroon are not just a backdrop but an essential part of my identity, reflecting the beauty and complexity of life in Guyana.
As a resident deeply rooted in my community, I often find myself reflecting on the challenges we face. While the beauty of Georgetown and other parts of our country is often showcased, I recognize that many areas, including my own, still grapple with infrastructural issues and economic disparity. It’s a stark contrast that sometimes makes it hard for our voices to be heard on the world stage. However, I remain optimistic about our resilience as a nation, inspired by the strength of my fellow Guyanese and the shared experiences that unite us, despite our differences.

Whether it's discussing the proper pronunciation of Rupununi or reminiscing about the flavors of our favorite dishes, these connections keep my spirit connected to our roots.
