About KELVIN CHRISTOPHER HALLS

About Kelvin Halls

Greetings! My name is Kelvin Halls, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. As a farmer, I nurture the land that has sustained my family for generations, cultivating crops that are integral to our vibrant Guyanese cuisine. Whether it’s duck curry seasoned to perfection or fresh vegetables destined for the local market, my work reflects the rich agricultural heritage of our beloved country. There’s nothing quite like the taste of food grown in our fertile soil, and I often reminisce about the flavors of home when connecting with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, especially those in New York City who share stories of our unique culinary delights.

Living in Pomeroon-Supenaam, I’m fortunate to have the stunning Essequibo River as my backdrop. This region is a treasure trove of natural beauty, and I often find inspiration for my work in the lush landscapes that surround me. While our country is on the brink of new opportunities with the burgeoning oil industry, it’s the spirit of community and resilience that continues to define us. I believe in fostering connections with other farmers and sharing knowledge, especially with young people looking to establish their roots in agriculture.

As I engage with the global Guyanese community, I cherish the stories exchanged about our heritage and identity. Whether we discuss the beautiful markets or the lively celebrations that showcase our diverse cultures, it reinforces my love for this land. I invite you to explore the beauty of Guyana, from its breathtaking landscapes to its mouthwatering dishes, and to embrace the warmth of our people, whether at home or abroad.
