Hello! I'm Kelvin Russel, a proud resident of Essequibo Supenaam Creek, nestled in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of our country, I've developed a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage that defines us. From the aroma of spicy pepperpot on Christmas morning to the vibrant celebrations of Mashramani, my heart beats in rhythm with the diverse traditions we hold dear. I believe that every corner of Guyana, from the winding rivers of the Essequibo to the bustling markets of Georgetown, has a story that deserves to be told.
Having ventured into the diaspora, I understand the challenges and joys of living abroad. It's easy to critique our homeland from afar, but I firmly believe that we must embrace our roots and celebrate the beauty of our nation. Comments like “you probably live in your basement apartment somewhere in North America” resonate with many of us who strive to bridge the gap between our homeland and our current communities. I find strength in sharing our experiences and uplifting each other, regardless of where we are in the world.
My mission is to showcase the wonders of Guyana, both to those who remain and to the diaspora who carry our culture with them.
