Hello! I’m Kenesha Grant, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically from Mechanic Street in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Living in this vibrant community has allowed me to embrace and celebrate the rich culture of Guyana, from the lush landscapes of our coastlines to the warm-hearted traditions passed down through generations. My background reflects the beautiful diversity of our nation, where various cultures converge, creating a unique Guyanese identity.
I am deeply passionate about sharing the flavors of our homeland, particularly the mouthwatering dishes that remind many of home, like the aromatic pepperpot and delectable cook-up rice. Whether it’s enjoying a meal from Sybil’s or Little Guyana Bake Shop in Queens or savoring a fresh coconut on the Essequibo Coast, I believe that food connects us all, especially in the diaspora. It’s important to me to educate others about our culture, especially clarifying that Guyana is distinct from Ghana, as we have our unique history and stories to tell.
