Hello! I'm Kenroy Cooke, a proud miner rooted in the vibrant landscapes of Coast Demerara, specifically from the scenic area of 44 De Kinderen West in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and rich waterways of Guyana, I've developed an appreciation for our natural resources and the spirit of resilience that defines our communities. The beauty of the River Evenuri and the tranquility of Bamboo Landing are always close to my heart, reminding me of the simple joys of life back home.
Having spent over a decade working in the mining industry, I understand the importance of our resources for both local livelihoods and the broader Guyanese economy. I often reflect on the changes Guyana is undergoing, especially with the recent oil discoveries. While I believe in progress, I also recognize the challenges we face in fostering a better future for all our people. I hold dear the memories of enjoying traditional dishes like curry and roti with my family, connecting over meals that are as rich as our culture.
Although I currently reside abroad, I remain deeply connected to my homeland and the vibrant Guyanese diaspora. I cherish the moments spent reminiscing with friends about the Pom River and delicious dishes at gatherings, even from afar. Guyana has a unique charm, and I hope to see it thrive as I look forward to returning to a better and brighter future for all of us.
