Greetings! My name is Kerifa Calvan, a proud farmer residing in Lower Pomeroon River Grant, Perseverance, within the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and the vibrant communities has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich agricultural heritage. Whether it’s cultivating rice or tending to fresh fruits and vegetables, I find immense joy in contributing to the local economy and preserving our traditions. As the saying goes, "Guyana is a form of black and brown friendship," and I take pride in nurturing both my crops and my community ties.
Though life in Guyana has its challenges, including economic ups and downs, we find strength in our unity and resilience. Our culture is reflected in everything from our delectable dishes, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, to the warm hospitality we extend to visitors. I often reminisce about our local celebrations and gatherings, where the laughter and stories shared over a plate of food remind me of our deep-rooted connections, both locally and in the diaspora.
