Hello! I’m Kerishma Magan, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo in Phase 2 South, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Essequibo, I've cultivated a deep appreciation for the rich culture and vibrant traditions of Guyana. From the bustling markets where you can find fresh cassava bread to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, my heart is forever tied to this beautiful country. I’m especially passionate about sharing our unique culinary delights, like the beloved pepperpot and mouthwatering cook-up rice, which truly define our culinary heritage.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I understand the longing many feel for home, especially when it comes to our food and festivities. I've seen firsthand how our culture can connect us, even from afar. I love engaging with our community online, whether it’s reminiscing about childhood memories at the Essequibo River or exchanging tips on how to recreate our traditional dishes. I believe that every storyteller plays a role in highlighting not just the beauty of Guyana, but also the challenges we face, such as development issues and the need for better representation of our nation’s reality.
