Hello! My name is Keron Sutton, and I am proud to call Essequibo my home, specifically the beautiful Billing Dam in Zeelugt, Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a goldminer, I spend my days immersed in the rich resources of our land, fostering a deep connection to Guyana’s natural beauty. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by the vibrant tapestry of our traditions—whether it’s enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot during the holidays or celebrating Mashramani with friends and family. I believe that our community's strength lies in our shared experiences, where everyone takes part in each other’s customs and traditions. I often reminisce about the stories shared at the riverbank, just like the tales of the Urasara Creek and the memories of life along its banks.
Though I now reside in a region where the echoes of our ancestors resonate, I feel a strong connection to the Guyanese diaspora. It warms my heart to hear stories from overseas, whether they are fond memories of brief encounters or dreams of reuniting with fellow Guyanese.
