Hello! My name is Kevin Garnett, and I am a sailor from the vibrant community of Essequibo 41, located in Parika, East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always been surrounded by the lush landscapes of our beautiful country, from the serene Essequibo River to the bustling markets where the rich aromas of pepperpot and cook-up rice fill the air. My passion for the sea drives me, allowing me to explore not only the waters of my homeland but also connect with fellow Guyanese around the world.
As a sailor, I have had the privilege of experiencing the diverse cultures within Guyana, including our unique blend of Indigenous, African, East Indian, and Portuguese heritage. I often reminisce about the lively chatter at Stabroek Market and the warmth of the people who make our nation so special. Though I left my homeland for a time, Guyana is never far from my heart. I take pride in sharing our stories and the beauty of our landscapes with others, and I hope to inspire change for the better, like many of my fellow Guyanese dream of seeing in our infrastructure and community services.
