Hello! I’m Kevin LaCruz, a proud resident of Coast Sand Road in Good Hope, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has filled my life with vibrant experiences, from the rich flavors of our diverse cuisine to the warm-hearted connections we share with one another. Whether it’s indulging in a plate of pepper pot or savoring some cook-up rice, I cherish the blend of cultures that make our food so unique. Our culinary diversity is a true reflection of our heritage, influenced by the Indigenous, African, East Indian, and Chinese communities that call this beautiful land home.
Living in Guyana means being surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, including the majestic Iwokrama rainforest, and the mesmerizing views along the Pom River on Waipaqua Island. As we embrace our new role as a growing oil and gas economy, I remain optimistic about our future, especially with the efforts of our dedicated President Irfaan Ali and our inspiring First Lady. I believe in the importance of stewardship for our environment; we must prioritize conservation and respect for nature to ensure our lush landscapes thrive for generations to come.
Though I now find myself part of the diaspora, my heart remains tethered to the rhythms of Guyana. I invite others to visit and experience the warmth of our people, where even strangers are greeted as “aunt” and “uncle.” Our country is on a path of development and growth, and I am excited to share my journey and the beauty of Guyana with the world.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
