Hello! My name is Khemraj Narine, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Coast Back Street Plantation in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. As a labourer, I embrace the hard work that fuels my local economy and supports my family. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the Essequibo River flows, and the warmth of my people can be felt in every interaction. Growing up, I fondly remember afternoons spent at the Bourda Market, not just for the hustle and bustle, but for the rich aromas of our local delicacies like pepperpot and cook-up rice, which remind me of home.
My journey has taken me far and wide, but my heart remains in Guyana. I often reflect on the stories shared by fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, from memories of school days at Stella Marys Primary to the spirited gatherings at Trin Citi in Queens. It's a comforting reminder that no matter where we are, we carry the essence of our homeland within us. I believe it’s essential for us to explore beyond the familiar spots; after all, our beautiful country has so many hidden gems waiting to be discovered, like the lush landscapes of River Grant and the vibrant communities in Upper Pomeroon.
