Greetings! I’m Komaldai Ramsewak, a dedicated teacher based in the serene Suddie Housing Scheme on the Essequibo Coast. My heart beats for education and nurturing young minds, as I believe in empowering the next generation to embrace their rich cultural heritage. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by the diverse traditions that shape us, from the vibrant mashramani celebrations to the tantalizing flavors of our local dishes like pepperpot and roti. Each day in the classroom is an opportunity to instill pride in our unique identity, a mix of influences from our Indigenous, African, Indian, and European roots.
Living in such a beautiful region, I draw inspiration from the lush landscapes and the mighty Essequibo River. This area is not only a joy to call home but a reminder of our connection to nature. As we explore the wonders of Guyana, I encourage my students to appreciate landmarks like the stunning Kaieteur Falls and the bustling markets of Georgetown.
