Hello! I’m Kshava Doodnauth, a proud farmer from the lush Essequibo Coast of Guyana, specifically from Pomona in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up surrounded by the rich biodiversity of our country, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the land and its bountiful produce. My days are spent cultivating crops that not only support my family but also connect with the heritage of our people. There’s nothing quite like the taste of fresh cassava or the aroma of pepperpot simmering on a Sunday morning!
Guyana is not just my home; it's a tapestry of cultures and traditions. I often find joy in sharing stories with friends and family about our local delicacies, like bake and saltfish, which have made their way into the hearts (and stomachs!) of many from the diaspora. As I promote sustainable farming practices, I aim to preserve the very essence of our Guyanese culture and share it with those near and far. I believe that even if you’re miles away, the flavors and stories of Guyana can bridge any distance.
Through my work, I also hope to shine a light on the beauty of our landscape, from the serene banks of the Essequibo River to the bustling markets of Georgetown. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
