Hello! I'm Kumarie Ram, a proud seamstress based in East Bank Essequibo, nestled in the vibrant community of Good Hope, Pomeroon-Supenaam. My roots run deep in this beautiful land, where the lush green landscapes meet the flowing Essequibo River. Living in Guyana my whole life has given me a unique perspective on our rich culture, and I strive to incorporate that into every piece I create. From intricate embroidery to traditional garments, my work reflects the rhythms of our life here and the essence of our people.
Guyana is often recognized as part of the Caribbean, a sentiment echoed by many in our diaspora. Our shared history, along with our delectable cuisine—like the beloved pepperpot—connects us with our Caribbean neighbors. I believe in celebrating these ties through my art and connecting with those who have left our shores but carry our spirit wherever they go.
