About DELINA NEGRESSA LA-CRUZ

About Delina La-Cruz

Hello! My name is Delina La-Cruz, and I proudly call the enchanting region of Barima-Waini my home. Nestled within the vast beauty of Guyana, I find joy in the vibrant culture and rich history of our land. Growing up near the Pomeroon River, I’ve always felt a deep connection to our natural landscapes, whether it’s the serenity of the Yarashirima Settlement or the bustling life surrounding Bat Creek. Each corner of our island is a reminder of the warmth and resilience of our people.

As a resident deeply rooted in Guyanese traditions, I treasure the flavors of our culinary heritage. From mouthwatering pepperpot during Christmas to the simple joy of sharing a plate of cook-up rice with family and friends, food is an integral part of who we are. I cherish the stories shared over meals, echoes of our ancestors and their adventures, that bring us together. Beyond that, the connection with our diaspora is strong; I feel a sense of pride every time I hear praise for the beauty of Guyanese women and our unique culture, often applauded by friends around the world.

Living in this tiny yet remarkable country, we’ve had our challenges, but the spirit of unity remains. With a commitment to fostering community ties and celebrating our heritage, I look forward to sharing my home with you, whether it’s through the stories I tell or the experiences I offer. As we say, “Pom. River GT Fear Not Lower Pom” – no matter where life takes us, our roots will always keep us grounded.
