About LAKENARAIN ABRAHIM

About Lakenarain Abrahim

Greetings from West Coast Demerara! My name is Lakenarain Abrahim, a dedicated labourer from the vibrant community along the 39 South Public Road. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I take pride in my roots and the rich cultural heritage that Guyana offers. From the beautiful Pomeroon River to the bustling markets filled with the aroma of our famous pepperpot and fried rice, I cherish the flavors and traditions that connect us all.

As a proud Guyanese, I carry the spirit of our diverse culture wherever I go. Whether it’s enjoying the best Chinese food in South America or sharing stories of our beloved landmarks like the Camuni Hill in Karawab, I find joy in celebrating our unique identity. Living abroad, I often reflect on how we Guyanese hold on to our heritage, often joking about how we say we are poor while we know we’ve got a lot of wealth in our culture and community.

For me, being part of the Guyanese diaspora means building connections and sharing experiences that resonate with our homeland. I look forward to connecting with fellow Guyanese and those interested in our beautiful country, as we navigate life while holding on to the warmth, resilience, and vibrancy that defines us.
