Hello! My name is Lakhadai Persaud, and I’m proud to call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically the vibrant community of Coffee Grove in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Growing up here has given me a unique perspective on the rich cultural diversity that defines Guyana. From the warm, welcoming smiles of my neighbors to the tantalizing aroma of homemade pepperpot cooking during the holidays, every day is a reminder of the beautiful life we share in this corner of the world.
Having been influenced by the various cultures present in Guyana, I cherish the time spent enjoying traditional dishes like cook-up rice and roti, celebrating festivals like Mashramani, and connecting with friends and family, both near and far. The Essequibo River’s stunning sunsets are a constant source of inspiration, and I often find myself reminiscing about my childhood adventures along its shores. It is these memories that keep me grounded and connected to my roots.
As a proud Guyanese, I understand that our nation, much like our diaspora, faces its challenges. However, I believe in the resilience and strength of our people. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
