Greetings! I am Lakrajie Sitaram, an educator based in the vibrant community of West Coast Demerara, specifically in the picturesque 199 Area G De Willem. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I have always been inspired by the rich cultural heritage that Guyana has to offer. From the sweet aroma of pepperpot wafting through the air during festive occasions to the captivating stories shared by elders about our beloved Kairimap Creek and the Lower Pomeroon River, my passion for teaching stems from a desire to pass on our unique history and traditions to the next generation.
Having spent time in the diaspora, particularly in bustling cities like New York, I understand the bittersweet longing for the flavors of home. I fondly recall the excitement of sharing dishes like roti and curry with friends, as well as celebrating special moments that reminded us of our roots.
