Hello! I’m Lashanna Phang, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo Jai Dam in Tushen East, situated in the heart of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers of Essequibo, I have developed a deep appreciation for our unique culture, which is a beautiful blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and Portuguese influences. This diversity is reflected in our delicious cuisine—from pepper pot and curry duck to the sweet delights of coconut drops. I find joy in sharing these culinary treasures with friends and family, making every meal a celebration of our heritage.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I am passionate about connecting with others who share a piece of my story. I often reminisce about the lively streets of our communities, like those along the Pomeroon River, where the rhythm of daily life is steeped in tradition and unity.
