Hello! I’m Laurina Ramjeet, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast in the beautiful village of Hampton Court, Anna. Growing up in this vibrant community, surrounded by lush landscapes and the serene waters of the Pomeroon River, has deeply shaped my appreciation for the rich cultural tapestry that defines Guyana. From the vibrant local markets filled with fresh produce to the tantalizing aroma of cook-up rice and pepperpot wafting through our streets, every day is a celebration of our diverse heritage.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I carry with me the warmth and resilience of our people. Whether it's sharing stories of traditional festivals like Mashramani or reminiscing about family gatherings filled with laughter and songs, I always strive to keep our culture alive. I’ve often found joy in connecting with fellow Guyanese abroad, whether it’s through food, music, or reminiscing about our beloved landmarks, like the famous St. George’s Cathedral and the majestic Kaieteur Falls.
Engaging with my community, both locally and overseas, is important to me. I love hearing from others about their experiences and sharing the deliciousness of our cuisine, as well as the stories of our ancestors who have paved the way for us.
