Hello! I'm Leander Baird, a proud Guyanese and cashier, currently residing in the vibrant community of Inner Stanyltown, located in the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara region. Growing up in such a culturally rich area has greatly influenced my life, as I have always been surrounded by the warmth and diversity of our people. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during the holidays or indulging in roti and curry from the local shops, I love sharing our culinary delights with friends and family. The taste of freshly made cassava bread or a sweet piece of sugar cake brings back memories of home that I cherish dearly.
As a Guyanese, I deeply value our connection to the diaspora community, whether it’s through sharing stories about our beautiful landmarks like the majestic Kaieteur Falls or discussing the local legends of Rose Hall. Even when I travel, I find it heartwarming to meet fellow Guyanese and reminisce about our unique experiences, from the lively sound of chutney music to the vibrant colors of Mashramani. We may sometimes joke about our Caribbean neighbors, but at the end of the day, no one can replicate the spirit and resilience that defines us as Guyanese.
