Greetings! I’m Leilawattie Roopnaraine, a proud resident of the vibrant Affiance community in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Known for its lush landscapes and rich cultural heritage, my home is surrounded by the tranquil waters of our rivers and the warmth of our people. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our local flavors, especially the joy of sharing a meal of roti and curry with family and friends, a tradition that brings us all closer together.
Having spent part of my life in the U.S., I carry the essence of Guyanese culture with me wherever I go. I often reminisce about the community events back home, from lively festivities at the Pomeroon River to the stories exchanged at the River Rockhill Settlement. Despite the changes I’ve seen over the years, my heart remains anchored in Guyana, where the spirit of community, resilience, and unyielding warmth thrives.
