About LELAWATIE LAKRAGIE

About Lelawatie Lakragie

Greetings! My name is Lelawatie Lakragie, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home. Nestled east of the Public Road in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I spend my days as a devoted housewife, cherishing the warmth of my family and the vibrant culture that surrounds us. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and rich history of Guyana, I have developed a profound appreciation for our local traditions, especially when it comes to food. Whether it's cooking up a hearty plate of pepperpot or indulging in a sweet treat of guava cheese, I find joy in sharing these culinary delights with family and friends.

My heart swells with pride for our community, from the lively markets of Georgetown to the breathtaking views along the Pomeroon River. Each experience is a reminder of the resilience and spirit of our people, especially when we come together to celebrate milestones or remember loved ones like my dear aunty D from Toronto, who passed in 2021. I cherish the connections we maintain with our diaspora, as we share stories and support one another across borders, proving that distance cannot dilute our shared heritage.

As I navigate the daily joys and challenges of life here, I remain committed to fostering a sense of togetherness, whether it's through community gatherings or simply sharing a meal with neighbors. With each passing day, I strive to honor our rich Guyanese culture while instilling these values in the next generation. Let us continue to celebrate our roots and uplift each other in our journeys, whether in the heart of Guyana or the vibrant diaspora around the globe.
