About LEON LENOX ALVES

About Leon Alves

Greetings! I’m Leon Alves, a proud logger hailing from the picturesque Essequibo Coast, specifically the vibrant community of 72 Centenary West Field in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery of our forests, I developed a deep appreciation for the land and its resources. Logging isn’t just my profession; it’s a connection to my roots, where every tree tells a story and supports our livelihoods. Whether it’s navigating the winding rivers like the Pomeroon or enjoying a serene day at Koria, the beauty of our landscape is always a source of inspiration.

In my spare time, you’ll probably find me indulging in our local delights—there's nothing quite like a souree to brighten up the day! I’ve often heard folks say, "Bro prefers the souree than a plum," and I can’t help but chuckle, knowing how true that is for many of us. The flavors of our culture, from the hearty meals to the vibrant gatherings, keep our community spirit alive, especially for those of us who are part of the diaspora, sharing stories of home with friends abroad.

As a proud Guyanese, I cherish the time spent with family and friends, reminiscing about the days spent by the Upper Pom River and the warmth of St. Monica. I believe in the strength of our people, our education, and the importance of civic responsibility. Together, we can build a brighter future for our beloved Guyana, nurturing our traditions while embracing new opportunities. I invite you to connect, share, and celebrate the rich tapestry of our culture with me!
