Hello! I’m Leonore Hodge, a proud resident of Demerara, specifically at 205 Fifth Street Patentia in the beautiful Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. My roots run deep in this vibrant land where the rich cultures of the Amerindians, Africans, East Indians, and Indigenous peoples come together. Growing up in Guyana, I have developed a love for our diverse culinary delights, from spicy pepperpot and savory curry to the sweet nostalgia of coconut bread and souse. Each dish tells a story, much like the winding paths of the Pomeroon River, leading us home.
Living in Guyana means being part of a unique blend of traditions and histories. Whether it’s celebrating Mashramani with the lively parades or relishing the tranquility of Waterton National Park, every experience shapes who I am. I take pride in sharing our culture with the diaspora community, reminding them of our land's beauty and resilience. As many of us know, sometimes the history that man gave you at the beginning was trash, but it’s up to us to redefine and showcase our true essence.
