Hello! My name is Leroy Dickson, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled in the scenic Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I work as a security guard, ensuring safety and peace for my community. Growing up here means I’ve been surrounded by the rich culture and vibrant traditions that Guyana is known for, including our delicious pepperpot and the famous festivals that light up our streets with music and dance.
Being part of the Guyanese diaspora, I connect with many of my fellow countrymen and women who have made their way across the globe. Whether it’s reminiscing about our unique Creole English or sharing tales of our beloved landmarks like the majestic Kaieteur Falls, these conversations help keep our culture alive and thriving, no matter where we are. I often hear comments from friends in the States who can't fathom the flavors of our local dishes, like the sweet pumpkin that’s a staple in our kitchens!
When I’m not on duty, you can find me engaging with others about Guyanese music, especially the soca tunes that remind us of home, or just enjoying a good chat about the latest happenings in our vibrant communities. It's a joy to share and celebrate our heritage, whether it’s here in Supernaam or at a gathering with my friends in New York City. I look forward to connecting with more people who share this pride in our Guyanese identity!
