Hello! I’m Lester John, a resident of Demerara, proudly rooted in the vibrant culture and rich traditions of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush beauty of our rainforests and the mighty Essequibo River, I've developed a deep appreciation for the unique flora and fauna that grace our land. From the gentle manatees that once swam in our rivers to the lively sounds of the markets, where fresh spices and local delicacies like pepperpot and roti fill the air, my heart beats for this beautiful country.

As someone who has embraced both my Guyanese heritage and the experiences of living abroad, I often reflect on the complexities of our identity. The recent discoveries of oil have sparked discussions about our future—whether it’s a blessing or a curse. Like many in the diaspora, I feel a strong connection to my homeland, whether it’s through stories shared over a plate of cook-up rice or conversations about our beloved landmarks, like the St. George's Cathedral or the Kaieteur Falls.
