About LILAWATIE RAMCHAND

About Lilawatie Ramchand

Greetings from the beautiful Essequibo Coast! My name is Lilawatie Ramchand, a proud housewife residing on the vibrant 85 Public Road in Jib, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Born and raised in Guyana, my heart beats for the rich culture and traditions of our homeland. The aroma of freshly made Pone, a delightful treat made from cassava and sweet potato, fills my kitchen as I try to keep the flavors of our heritage alive. Just like the many flavors of Guyanese cuisine, our community is a melting pot of ethnicities, celebrating everything from Diwali to Mashramani with the same warmth as a family gathering.

Having spent much of my life in Guyana, I cherish the connections we share with the diaspora. Hearing stories from fellow Guyanese abroad, whether it’s about the bustling streets of Toronto or the vibrant markets in London, reminds me of the pride we all feel for our roots. We have walked a long journey together since the days of colonization, and today, with the rise of our nation as a petrostate, I am hopeful for the brighter future ahead for all Guyanese, both at home and abroad.

As a homemaker, I believe in the importance of nurturing not just my family but also the bonds we have with our neighbors and friends. From gathering for community events to sharing hearty meals, I strive to foster an inclusive space that reflects the warmth of Guyanese hospitality. Whether you’re here in Essequibo or part of the global diaspora, I invite you to share in our culture, our stories, and the unique spirit that makes Guyana so special.
