Greetings! My name is Linden Agard, and I proudly call Suddie on the Essequibo Coast my home. As a carpenter, I take great pride in crafting pieces that reflect the beauty and creativity of our vibrant culture. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I've developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, especially the mouthwatering curry crab and rice, and the sweet goodness of cassava pone. I’m always eager to share these flavors with others, whether at home or with the diaspora community, who often reminisce about our shared experiences and the warmth of home. We, Guyanese, have a unique bond, often referring to each other as “uncle” or “aunty,” which speaks to our close-knit nature.
While our country may face challenges, I believe it is essential to celebrate our rich culture, from the majestic Pom River to the lively traditions that make us who we are. It’s in these moments of connection, whether through laughter over mispronounced river names or sharing stories from Berbice, that I feel most at home.
