Greetings! My name is Lisa Vaughn, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the banks of the Pomeroon River, this beautiful area is rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage. When I’m not working as a resident of our vibrant community, you can usually find me indulging in local delicacies like pepperpot and metemgee, or enjoying a scenic day at the nearby Shell Beach, where the beauty of our coast truly shines.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always cherished the unique blend of cultures that define us. From our lively festivals celebrating Mashramani to the rhythmic sounds of chutney and calypso music, every aspect of our culture speaks to our resilience and creativity. As part of the diaspora, I love connecting with fellow Guyanese around the world, sharing stories and laughter, especially when it comes to our hilarious experiences with outsiders trying to pronounce names from our beautiful country—trust me, it’s always a good laugh!
