Hello! My name is Lloyd Clarke, and I proudly call Pomeroon River Grant Hope in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a farmer, I am deeply connected to the land, cultivating a variety of crops that are staples in our vibrant community, such as rice and cassava. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and the rich biodiversity of this region, I have learned to appreciate the beauty of our natural resources and the importance of sustainable farming practices.
Guyana is a unique blend of cultures, where the influence of our Indigenous, African, Indian, and European heritage is palpable in our daily lives. From savoring delicious dishes like pepperpot and roti to celebrating our vibrant festivals, I cherish every aspect of our local culture. Our country’s membership in CARICOM speaks to our deep-rooted connections within the Caribbean, as we engage in trade and celebrate our shared traditions with neighboring nations.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I value the friendships and cultural exchanges we share, whether it’s connecting with fellow Guyanese in Bangladesh or discussing our shared history with friends from Trinidad. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
