Hello! I’m Lloyd Rodrigues, a proud resident of Essequibo, nestled along the Old Road Greenwich in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up surrounded by our lush rainforests and vibrant rivers, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the rich biodiversity that defines our land. From the stunning Kaieteur Falls to the serene Essequibo River, the beauty of Guyana inspires me every day.
I’m passionate about sharing our local culture, especially our delicious cuisine! Whether it’s the sweet and savory flavors of cook-up rice or the refreshing taste of fresh coconut water, I love celebrating the unique dishes that bring us together. You might even hear me refer to eggplant as “balangae” or call callaloo “bahgi,” as these local names are part of what makes our culinary experience so special.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I feel a strong connection to my fellow countrymen both at home and abroad. I often engage with friends and family who have ventured far from our shores, whether they’re in Canada, the USA, or beyond. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
