Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and the winding Pomeroon River, my roots run deep in the rich culture of Guyana. As a Guyanese, I cherish the strong ties we share with our Caribbean neighbors, despite our unique geographical position in South America. The lively spirit of our cultural celebrations, from Mashramani to Diwali, fills my heart with joy and pride. I’ve even had the pleasure of connecting with fellow Guyanese in the diaspora, like the teachers making waves in places like Indonesia, who keep our traditions alive through education and community building. We might be a bit different from our South American counterparts, but our love for our music and culture truly unites us.
In my work as a miner, I find strength and resilience, much like the people of my homeland.
