Greetings! I’m Loraine Joseph, a proud resident of Regina Essequibo Coast, nestled along the tranquil shores of the Pomeroon-Supenaam region in Guyana. My roots run deep in this vibrant land, where the aroma of curry with puri fills the air, and the laughter of neighbors resonates across the streets. The Essequibo River, with its stunning sunsets, serves as a reminder of the natural beauty that surrounds us, and although I often hear criticisms about our challenges, I remain hopeful about the warmth and resilience of our people.
As someone who has experienced both the joys and struggles of life in Guyana, I understand the complexities that come with our beloved homeland. Many, like myself, have seen educated friends and family migrate for better opportunities, leaving behind a landscape that is both breathtaking and burdened by socio-economic issues. Yet, amidst the hardships, I cherish the kindness of our communities, the rich flavors of our cuisine, and the rich narratives that connect us, whether we are here or abroad.
