Hello! I’m Luciandra Persaud, a proud teacher residing on the beautiful coast east of the Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. My roots are deeply intertwined with the rich cultures and traditions of our diverse nation. Guyana may not be your typical Caribbean country, but its unique blend of Amerindian, African, Indian, and European influences creates a vibrant community that I cherish. From savoring a plate of pepperpot during Christmas to enjoying the lively sounds of the Mashramani festival, my heart remains anchored in this land of lush rainforests and the mighty Essequibo River.
As an educator, I strive to inspire my students, nurturing their curiosity and instilling a love for learning. I believe in the power of education to uplift our communities, especially as Guyana experiences economic changes with recent oil discoveries. It's an exciting time for our country, and I am committed to preparing the next generation to navigate these developments with integrity and purpose.
Though I currently teach here, I am always connected to the wider Guyanese diaspora, sharing stories and experiences with friends and family across the globe. Whether it’s discussing the latest local events, exchanging recipes for dishes like dal and rice, or reminiscing about the beauty of our coastal landscapes, I am proud to represent my heritage wherever I go.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
