Hello! I’m Mahadeo Jairam, a proud carpenter hailing from the vibrant Coast 58 Lima Housing Scheme in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My work reflects the rich traditions of Guyanese craftsmanship, where every piece I create tells a story of our culture and heritage. I take immense pride in building furniture that not only serves a purpose but also resonates with the warmth and spirit of home, much like the beloved meals we share, from pepperpot to cook-up rice, that bring friends and family together.
Growing up in the Pomeroon area, I’ve always found inspiration in our breathtaking landscapes, whether it’s the flowing waters of the Pomeroon River or the lush greenery that surrounds us. As I work, I often reminisce about the stories shared at the riverbanks, where laughter and camaraderie fill the air, reminding me of the strong connections we have as a community. Even though many of us are far from home, it’s these memories that keep our culture alive in the diaspora, where we celebrate our roots through music, dance, and of course, our culinary delights.
As I continue my journey in the carpentry trade, I remain committed to representing Guyana proudly, both at home and abroad.
