Hello! I’m Mahadeo Ramkissoon, a proud resident of Regina Essequibo Coast, nestled at 144 Nightingale Street in beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our vibrant culture, from the tantalizing aroma of pepper pot simmering on the stove to the joy of sharing doubles from Singh’s roti shop with friends and family. Nothing beats the warm, inviting atmosphere of our local community, where every meal is a celebration and every gathering is steeped in tradition.
As someone whose roots run deep in the rich soils of Guyana, I celebrate the diverse heritage that shapes our beautiful nation. My family traces its lineage from a mix of Indian and Scottish backgrounds, much like many others in our community. This blend of cultures is reflected in our festivals, music, and, most importantly, our food! Whether it's enjoying the festivities during Mashramani or sharing stories of the Pomeroon River with newcomers, I take pride in connecting with others who share a love for our homeland.
Though I have established my life here, my heart often dances back to Guyana, where the "black gold" reminds us all of the promise and potential we hold. I cherish the connections with the Guyanese diaspora across Canada and the USA, where stories of home continue to inspire us.
